Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj “Chhaava” – TRUTH or Propaganda?

Chhatrapari Sambhaji Maharaj

Don’t watch Chhaava if you don’t want to know the real truth of India.

Don’t watch Chhaava if you want to forget a real hero in our history.

Don’t watch Chhaava if you don’t want to see the ugly face of the Mughals.

‘Chhaava’ is the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. If Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a lion, then his son was Chhava. But today, this history has disappeared from our history books. But if you have the courage to listen to the truth, then do watch Chhaava.

“हे हिंदवी स्वराज्य व्हावे ही श्रींची इच्छा”

“He Hindavi Swarajya vhave, Hich srinchi iccha”

The Swarajya that we are talking about in this line, you and I should have a fundamental freedom in that Swarajya. Right? The freedom to know the truth like the truth. But where is this freedom?

In this blog, we will shed light on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

Who Was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

Outside Maharashtra, some people would know who Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was. But only a few people know who Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was. But if Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj were not there, then India would not exist. Who was Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

Chhatrapari Sivaji Maharaj

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had awakened the dream of Swarajya. The people of India were slaves for hundreds of years. Sometimes, this Sultan came; sometimes, Nizam came and looted and left. The flight of our dreams was limited to becoming a Subhedar. We had accepted that we were slaves, we were slaves, and we would remain slaves. But Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a spark. The spark set fire to the entire jungle of the Mughals. He spent 50 years of his life making Swarajya’s dream come true. But what happened after that? There was a celebration in Delhi because Aurangzeb considered him a mountain rat. And he believed that the mountain rat was dead.

That is, the dream of Swarajya will be destroyed now. But did this happen? No. Shambhu Rajya was only 23 years old when Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj passed away. From 1681 to 1689, he fought the Mughals and the Portuguese looters; in fact, he also fought the English and Dutch colonizers. Do you know how big our army was? Only 20,000. And with this small army of 20,000, he defeated 8 lakh Mughals. Not just once but again and again, and that too much so that Aurangzeb’s focus shifted from Bundelkhand, Rajasthan, and Punjab. And this was the reason that more resistance movements started coming from there. Because Aurangzeb remained busy in Deccan until his death.

This was Chhatrapati Shambhaji Maharaj’s contribution to Swarajya. He did not limit his dream of Swarajya only to the Marathas.

He made every son who called his soil his mother a part of the dream of Swarajya. He kept the dream of Swarajya alive every moment.

And this was not possible alone.

What is the difference between the Marathas and the Mughals?

Chhaava

Often, many intellectuals ask what the difference is between the Marathas and the Mughals. Both were establishing their own empire. There is a difference of identity between the two. Whereas Aurangzeb himself, despite being born in India, considered himself a Turk. He did not accept the culture here. He kept it far away.

Whereas Chhatrapati Shambhaji Maharaj knew 13 languages at the age of 13. Because he considered himself a part of the country, and wherever he went, he extended a hand of friendship. He understood that language is a bridge. Where Aurangzeb wanted to impose his own culture on India, he considered his own ideas above everything else. In comparison, the Marathas were the sons of this soil. And that is the difference.

Did you know that Chhatrapati Shambhaji Maharaj was the only warrior in our country? Who fought 120 battles in just 9 years. And he did not lose a single one.

But don’t watch Chhaava if you don’t want to know all these facts.

Don’t watch Chhaava if you don’t want to see the real face of Aurangzeb.

Why was Aurangzeb a Controversial Ruler?

Aurangzeb may have been the most controversial ruler of India. Why controversial? Because some people consider him a villain. So, some people consider him a hero. Yes, you won’t believe this. However, some people in India believe that Aurangzeb was a hero. Either they have forgotten all the sins of Aurangzeb. Or they want to ignore it. Some people believe that he saved more temples than he destroyed. He didn’t do anything that other rulers didn’t do. He was just a product of his time.

Who was Aurangzeb?

Let me introduce you to the real Aurangzeb.

After Shah Jahan, who should have the throne of India? His eldest son was Dara Sikho. By the way, Aurangzeb had no right to the throne. But he fought with his three brothers. He also imprisoned his father. He didn’t win the throne by merit but by deceit. Aurangzeb had also betrayed his father and brothers. But still, some people consider him a hero.

Atrocities of Aurangzeb

Let me tell you something interesting.

Akbar had translated the Ramayana and Mahabharata into Farsi to introduce Indian culture to the Persians. Taking his work ahead, Dara Sikho translated the Vedas and Upanishads into Farsi. Dara Sikho wanted to reduce the differences between Hindus and Muslims. But Aurangzeb didn’t let this happen. Instead of reducing conflicts, he increased them. Aurangzeb hated art. He considered it a waste of time.

He introduced Sharia law in India. He imposed a Jizya tax. Jizya is a tax that is imposed on all non-Muslims. So, non-Muslims had only two options.

Option 1: Pay more tax.

Option 2: Convert to Islam.

This was like an economic forced conversion. It was a manipulation. Aurangzeb broke so many temples. His testimony gives his record. He felt that breaking temples was an achievement. Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Somnath Temple, Jagannath Temple, Pandharpur Temple. He attacked everywhere. Aurangzeb killed lakhs of Hindus—and even Sikhs. Guru Tegh Bahadur is the 9th Guru of Sikhs. Aurangzeb captured him and gave him two options.

Option 1: Perform a miracle to prove that he is close to God.

Option 2: Convert to Islam.

Guru Tegh Bahadur — the ninth Sikh guru who sacrificed himself for religious freedom

And Guru Tegh Bahadur refused to listen to both options. And said, I am not afraid of death. All his companions were tortured in front of him. But still, Guru Tegh Bahadur did not accept Islam. In the end, he severed his head in front of everyone in Chandni Chowk, Delhi.

Today, it doesn’t feel good to see that many scholars defend such actions. Aurangzeb always loved his religion more than his politics. And loving religion is not wrong. But he never respected the people of other sects. This is wrong. He did not respect India. This is wrong. Till the end, he felt that ruling India was his destiny. He wasn’t a part of India. He was above India. At least in his mind. And he was not punished for these actions. So his future generation got punished. Because Aurangzeb was the last Mughal to rule India. I mean, effectively, no Mughal was able to rule India after him. He was the last Mughal emperor. Think about it.

Why could Aurangzeb not wreak havoc in the South?

We all know that Aurangzeb destroyed many temples in the north of India. But have you ever thought why he couldn’t come to the south of India? Because the Marathas had stopped him for many years.

Today, if you see such beautiful temples in the south, then protecting them is the gift of the Marathas. Never forget this. The blood of the Marathas has made the brightness of these temples even brighter. But if you don’t dare to hear the truth, then don’t watch Chhaava at all. I know that the flame of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj couldn’t extinguish the Mughals while he was alive. But Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj kept this flame alive. He didn’t let it extinguish. He didn’t let us, who had become one, scatter again. He was a righteous warrior.

How Aurangzeb Caught Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

Actually, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was defeated not by outsiders but by his own people. He was betrayed. When he was passing through a secret path of Raigad, his people informed Aurangzeb about his movement. And in the end, our king was caught. By the way, he was not an ordinary prisoner. He was not a slave. He was a king. Political prisoners are not kept as enslaved people. They have a different dignity. But what did Aurangzeb do with them? He made three conditions.

  1. He should consider Aurangzeb to be the king of India as a whole.
  2. He should return all the treasures of the Marathas to the Mughals.
  3. He should leave Sanatan Dharma and accept Islam.

How Aurangzeb Tortured Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

After hearing these three conditions, it was not even in the scope of our Dharamveer’s thinking to betray the dream of his father. So, how would he have accepted these conditions? What was to happen?

Torture began. Sambhaji was hanging upside down on a camel and taken around the kingdom. People were told to hit him with a stone. It was even said to urinate on him. And those ignorant people did this, too. If Aurangzeb had been the culprit, then people urinating on Dharamveer would have been no less. Not one, not two, but for 40 days, he was beaten up slowly. One by one, his nails were removed. Then chilies were put in his eyes. His skin was broken through tools. Have you seen iron bars? They were heated and turned red like this. Then, those bars were put in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s eyes, and both his eyes were broken. And despite all this, for 40 days, he was constantly asked what conditions were accepted. Will you accept Islam? But our Chhatrapati’s answer did not change. The answer was no. Whatever finger was raised, every finger was cut. One by one, all his fingers were cut. His hands were broken, then his feet. The tongue with which he had refused was also cut. Aurangzeb had deceitfully broken his body but not his emotions. He did not leave his religion till his last breath.Vicky Kaushal

It is said that in the end, after his death, he was not even given the last rites. Some accounts say that he was cut into pieces and thrown into the river. Some accounts say that the pieces of his body were fed to dogs.

I mean, don’t watch Chhaava if you don’t have the ability to hear this truth. I think that today 99% of Indians’ patriotism is fake patriotism. This only arises when there is a cricket match between India and Pakistan. Today, we think that all actors, cricketers, and influencers are heroes. We are not heroes. In fact, we are not even equal to our ancestor’s fingernails. Today, 99% of people in the country live in a delusion. But if you are from that other 1%, watch Chhaava.

A few things to note

Today, whenever I see someone spitting on the road, stealing tax money, or leaving the country after scamming the whole country, then it seems that all this is the result of selective ignorance. It is the result of our failed education system. Because we have been taught that if you write, my country is great on the truck, then our duty is over. But if we were taught the way Aurangzeb was, without hiding anything, then today we could test how many Aurangzebs are born in the country and how many Shivajis. That is why when films like Chhaava come, it feels good. Because the books of history that we were unable to do are doing our movies, and this is not about Hindu-Muslim at all.

I would like every Muslim person who was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to know their principles, read about them, and know them. Understand their stories. This will be the real victory of Swarajya. There were Shambhu kings who did not lose in 120 battles. But still, when it came to writing our history, they were lost. It is said that history is written by victors. That is, the one who wins writes the history. So why is our history called Mughals Badshah and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Mountain Rat today?

Summing Up!

A country that does not write its history from its perspective learns nothing from history. And the country that does not know anything from history becomes history. This is the truth. Let’s understand the real history of the country. Not only in Maharashtra but in every corner of the country, let’s reach the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
